Wilkes-Barre/Scranton Pens Boosters Deck the Halls
2014-12-30 : Wilkes-Barre, PA
The Wilkes-Barre/Scranton Booster Club participated in the Parade of Trees at The Grotto, Harveys Lake, in support of Pathways. Grotto customers vote by making a monetary donation to the tree decide is the best decorated. The three trees raising the most money share additional donations from the pool of entry fees paid by participants.
Top 3 were:
(1) Meadows Manor for Jackie Mazur (Four Diamonds Hershey Medical Center)
(2) Reilly Finishing Technologies (Ava Kurilla Fund)
(3) H & R Block (David’s Coffee House)
The event is held every year at Grotto Pizza in Harveys Lake, and features Christmas trees sponsored by businesses that support local charities. The cost of sponsoring a tree is $150 - half of this fee goes to the charity of their choice, and the other half goes into the prize pool.
This year’s event raised a record $24,259, besting their previous record, which was about $17,000. Since this event began, it has raised over $165,000. A total of 25 businesses/organizations participated in this year’s event.
Congrats to all who participated. There are no losers here. It is a win for all involved, especially the charities for which each sponsor work so hard for.
