MMBC Holds Celebration Balloon Launch
2014-11-30 : Manchester, NH
The MMBC held a Celebrate Jen event to honor Jennifer Kemp, co-founder of the MMBC. This year was the 10th year of Jenís passing. Kemp family members were joined by several MMBC members at the Henniker New Cemetery for a celebratory balloon launch.
Participants were able to warm up with Dunkiní coffee and hot chocolate and snack on munchkins while they waited for the event to start.
Event coordinator, Bill Walch welcomed attendees and thanked them for coming out to celebrate the life of Jennifer Kemp. Afterwards, a moment of silence was held.
MMBC President Dan OíGrady made a presentation to the Kempís. The MMBC made a donation of $100 donation to Monarchs Care Foundation in honor of Jen and other MMBC members who have passed on.
Next, we moved on to the balloon launch. Participants each received a balloon and had the opportunity to write messages and thoughts of Jen. A countdown commenced and all the balloons were launched at the same time, giving color to the cloud deck above. Folks watched as all the balloons floated into the sky. A family bouquet of balloons was handed to the Kemp family and they were launched. Once again, everyone watched until they disappeared.
This ended the cemetery portion of the event. It was on to a lunchtime social at Sonnyís Main Street Restaurant. After enjoying each other in conversation, the Kempís were given a gift. It was a custom framed autographed TJ Kemp jersey from MMBC members Bill Walch, Roger Carpenter, Michelle Gagnon and Ray Clarke.
Special thanks to John & Lydia Perry for supplying the helium and balloons for the balloon launch and Bill Walch for the coffee, hot chocolate and donuts.
